Achievement Awards

At the Gateway Academy, we are fortunate to be part of the Jack Petchey Achievement Award scheme.

Each term, we recognise three students across the Academy who have put in extra effort and tried their best. Awards mean different things to different people. The Achievement Awards are not solely for academic achievement, they may be used to recognise a personal triumph for someone who has faced a challenge, a young person who has pushed themselves outside of their comfort zone, or it may be an opportunity to recognise the outstanding efforts of a team player or an act of kindness within the Academy, local or wider community.

Nominations can be made at any time by students or staff members who believe the individual has gone above and beyond to achieve.  Close to the end of each term a panel of previous winners look at all the nominations collected that term and agree between them the new winners.  All nominees are notified of their nominations, as well as their Family Leader and members of the Academy leadership Team.

Each award winner receives a certificate, pin badge and a book from Sir Jack Petchey. They will also be allocated a £300 grant to donate to a department within the Academy.  All award winners are invited to attend one of our fun celebration events to be presented with a medallion in front of their families, friends and VIPs.

Nominations are now closed

Leader Awards

As well as the Achievement Awards for students, we take part in the Jack Petchey Foundation Leader Awards scheme.

This award recognises the incredible commitment of adults who work in the Academy and are dedicated to supporting our students. The awards give young people the chance to say ‘thank you’ to these incredible adults!

The scheme requires the involvement of young people in selecting a member of staff who has inspired and supported them within the Academy. Students are able to nominate any staff member they feel has made a difference to them. The winner will receive £1000 to spend on bettering their community or learning experience.
