GCSE Exam Results

The Gateway Academy is celebrating another year of exceptional success, with students achieving some of the highest results in the academy’s history. Performance across many subjects including Maths and English has significantly exceeded the national average, underlining the Academy’s continued commitment to academic excellence. The Academy’s Attainment 8 score — which measures how well students perform across eight key subjects — was above the national average, reflecting the strong progress made by students in both academic and creative areas. This means that Gateway students, on average, achieve higher grades across a broader range of subjects than many of their peers nationally.

The Gateway Academy continues to set the highest standards, with students demonstrating exceptional academic progress across a wide range of subjects. This year, the Academy's students have once again achieved some of the best results in its history, with subjects including Maths, English, Science, Languages, Humanities, Technology, and the Arts performing well above the national average. Particularly impressive is the number of students achieving Grades 7 to 9, with our Grammar Band students achieving 334 grades 7 to 9 between them.

Headteacher Ms McLaughlin congratulated the Year 11 cohort on their achievements and praised their dedication. She also paid tribute to the wider academy community.

Viki Reid, CEO of the Gateway Learning Community (GLC), also commended the students:

Please note given the uneven impact of the pandemic on school and college performance data, the government has said "you should not make direct comparisons between the performance data for one school or college and another, or to date from previous years."

The Gateway Academy's strong results highlight the academy's growing reputation for academic achievement and student success, both locally and nationally.
