All Different: All Equal
Together, Improving Upon Our Best

Reading Curriculum

At the Gateway Academy, we aim for our students to have access to a wide range of diverse, interesting and challenging texts throughout our curriculum. In Year 7 and 8, all pupils will have one hour a week, which is focused purely on reading a class novel and developing reading skills. This is in addition to the wide range of texts which our students study in their English Curriculum.

Below is a list of the texts which all our students will study in each year group. As a parent, you will receive regular updates on what your child is reading in school, which will allow you to discuss reading at home.

If you would like any more information or support on the texts being studied, please contact Alex Mitchell (alex.mitchell@theglc.org.ouk) or Dan Bedford (dan.bedford@theglc.org.uk)
