Please be aware that flow plates have been installed at the entrance to the Gateway Academy/ Gateway Primary Free School car park. This is to support the one way system that is strictly in place, helping to make it a safer space for our families.
Thank you for your continued support.
Our basketball students have worked extremely hard all year to get to this stage. Lots of mornings arriving early to shoot 200 shots before school starts, and lots of late evenings staying behind after school for the team practices and fixtures.
I could not be more proud of everyone’s efforts and how far we have come. We are just getting started..!!

On Tuesday 6th and Wednesday 7th of May 2025 we held our annual dance show! The dance show is an all-inclusive community dance event that includes students performing from the Gateway Academy in Years 7–11, giving them the opportunity to perform and showcase their talent and passion to an audience. The show this year included over 20 numbers in a range of different dance styles, including contemporary, commercial, acro, musical theatre, jazz and tap. In total, we had over 130 students participating in the performance, demonstrating their hard work and love for dance. Our Year 11 students also had the opportunity to perform their Year 11 exam choreographies and students across all year groups were able to audition their own pieces to perform in the show.
Students have been so dedicated and resilient during all of their lessons and after-school rehearsals. Students gave up weekends and evenings to rehearse for the performance and their passion and dedication to dance was truly reflected in their performances. We also invited local dance schools and colleges to perform alongside our students, which gives them the opportunity to see dance beyond The Gateway Academy, inspiring them to consider dance as a post 16 option.
The students were absolutely outstanding and performed with such confidence. The dance department are very proud of each and every student involved in this year’s show both on stage and supporting backstage and want to say a massive thank you and well done to you all!

Our talented Year 10 GCSE Photography students recently embarked on an inspiring trip in our surrounding environment! 📸 This marks the exciting launch of their new project, and they truly embraced the opportunity. We were so impressed by their enthusiasm and creativity as they captured an amazing array of photographs for their portfolios. From striking landscapes to intricate details, their initial work promises a fantastic collection!
What a match! Gateway Staff took on Gateway Year 11 in our annual showdown! ⚽️ A massive thank you to all the amazing staff who supported this event – your dedication makes these special occasions possible. It was a fantastic display of competitive spirit from both sides. In a historic moment, the Year 11s claimed victory with a 4-1 win! 🏆 These staff vs. students events highlight the strong relationships we foster at the Academy. Huge fun was had by all, and we also raised significant funds for the Year 11 Prom. Thanks again to everyone who played, cheered, and helped out, including our lovely former students and parents who came to watch!
Gateway Academy Geography students had an amazing fieldwork day at Kew Gardens! 🌳🌍
They immersed themselves in diverse ecosystems, from lush rainforests to arid deserts, gaining a deeper understanding of biodiversity and the vital importance of conservation. Armed with their booklets, students became real-life scientists, collecting data and making observations about plant adaptations and environmental challenges. They explored the iconic glasshouses, took in breathtaking views from the treetop walkway, and engaged in fascinating interactive exhibits.
This incredible trip brought classroom concepts like climate change and sustainability to life in a truly inspiring way. For many students, it was their first time experiencing the beauty and scientific significance of Kew Gardens. We were impressed by their enthusiasm and curiosity throughout the day!
