Free School Meals

National voucher scheme launched for schools providing free school meals

Children eligible for free school meals can benefit from a national voucher scheme whilst they stay at home.

With effect from Monday 20 April 2020, we are now able to provide every eligible child for free school meals with a weekly shopping voucher worth £15.00 to spend at supermarkets while schools are closed due to the coronavirus. The scheme will allow us to provide vouchers to families electronically, or as a gift card for those without internet access. Parents/carers will receive the voucher and can then redeem this online via a code, or sent to their house as a gift card and used at supermarkets across the country.

If you do wish to partake of this voucher scheme, or would prefer us to continue to provide meals for collection or

delivery, where this is not possible, please email Mrs Jones (

GCSE Examination Groups

Year 10 and Year 9 students that were due to sit GCSE exams this year, we await Government advice to see if this will be possible in the Autumn Term and will provide you with more information regarding this in the coming months. Unfortunately, we cannot set out a plan yet until we know what the Government advice is. I apologise for the distress that is associated with this for all of our students. I know that our students were working harder than ever to do well in their examinations, however their safety is the most important thing to us. Year 11 student can find out all the information in relation to their examinations in the letter from Mr Heighway.

Please be reassured that I will continue to update you on a weekly basis with the latest information and I look forward to a time when we will be welcoming all of our students back to our Academy.

Kind regards,

Yours sincerely

Mrs G McLaughlin
