STUDENTS at the Gateway Academy in Tilbury have shown their support for others less fortunate than themselves by backing another Foodbank collection.

Previous collections have been a big success and the latest, as students move towards the end of the school year, proved to be no exception.

The collection was instigated by Year 8 Progress Leader, Mrs Ute Steenkamp.

The Year 10s, under the guidance of Ms Ami Dixon, contributed the most to the collection and the top contributors were Billy Howe and Emma Huntingford.

Billy said: “During the pandemic we, as a school realised that we need to help each other and give back to our community, unfortunately some people are in desperate need in this current climate and it is great as a school that we have been able to give back and donate what we have during these challenging times.”

“We hope that we can carry on our efforts and support our local community in any way we can.”

Emma added: “I am just happy to contribute and I love that our school values and our community enough to support it.”
