Update from GLC CEO

9 June 2021

Dear Parents and Carers

I am writing to inform you of some important changes in the senior leadership of some GLC schools that will be taking effect this September.   These changes have been prompted by the departure of Ms Laikin [the Head of School at Lansdowne].  I would stress that all senior leaders work very closely as a team across the GLC so whilst there are significant changes taking place, the key leaders in question remain part of the GLC and have a wide influence across the Trust.

The changes from September 2021 are as follows:

 Mr Dan George will assume the role of Head of School at Lansdowne Primary Academy and Executive Head of School at Gateway Primary Free School.

 Miss Emma Pattison will become the Head of School at The Gateway Primary Free School.  Mrs Clare Hall will become the Head of School at Tilbury Pioneer Academy.

 Mrs Otto will continue in her role of Head of School at Herringham but will take the lead in developing the primary curriculum.

 Mrs McLaughlin will also continue in her role of Head of School at The Gateway Academy and continue to lead on all aspects of secondary provision.

 Finally, we have been working on a succession plan and will be appointing a new CEO for September 2022.   The Board of Directors have agreed that I will reduce my hours next year and that Mrs Reid [currently the Deputy CEO] will assume the role of CEO on the days that I am absent.

I am pleased to inform you that all GLC schools are fully staffed for September with some excellent new colleagues joining our teams [we will provide more details about this before we break for the summer].

As always, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our staff for the outstanding work they have done and continue to do during these strangest of times and would also like to thank you for your unwavering support.   Together, we have much still to do to address the impact of the pandemic but I can assure you we have plans in place and are working hard to ensure every one of the 3,000 young people within the GLC meets our mission: “To develop confident, aspirational, resilient, high‐achieving, healthy, caring and fulfilled members of a diverse, truly fair, and equal community.”

Best wishes,

Yours sincerely

Kevin Sadler
