Dear Parents/Carers:

I hope you and your family had a lovely half term break and am delighted to welcome the students back to the final term of this academic year.  I am pleased to advise that last half term was incredibly positive and I hope that we can proceed to the end of this term in the same way.

Students return to school in September 2021 It is vital that we have a smooth transition back to Academy life for our students after the summer break and we ask that you support us in this by taking following actions:

 On Thursday 2 September 2021, Year 7 students will start at 8:15 am, Year 8 to Year 11 will start at 10:00 am.

 Full uniform will be expected to be worn, including the appropriate footwear (please see The Gateway Academy website for full details with regards to school uniform http://www.theglc‐ gatewayacademy.org.uk/111/uniform).  I would like to encourage you to ensure all items purchased are in line with the school uniform policy in order to avoid any further expense.  Trainers are not acceptable.

With effect from 2 September 2021, students will be expected to arrive at school every day in full uniform and change into their PE/Dance kits when required for these specific lessons (please click on the attached link for a letters regarding this) New PE Kit Years 7‐8: http://www.theglc‐ gatewayacademy.org.uk/uploads/document/2_1077_new‐pe‐kit‐letter‐years‐7‐8‐pdf.pdf and New PE Kit Years 9‐10: http://www.theglc‐gatewayacademy.org.uk/uploads/document/2_1078_new‐pe‐kit‐letter‐years‐9‐ 10‐pdf.pdf

Regular Covid Testing:

 Whilst we cannot insist, we are continuing to encourage all students to have twice weekly Lateral Flow Tests (LFD).  If this test is positive, please inform Kerry Newton (kerry.newton@theglc.org.uk) and book a PCR Test immediately.

 If your child has been in contact with anybody who has tested positive for Coronavirus, it is imperative that they do not attend school and isolate for a full 10 days.

 If you child is displaying any of the Covid symptoms, they must not attend school, book a PCR test within two days of taking a Lateral Flow Test and must isolate for 10 days.  (Please note that if the follow‐up PCR test comes back as negative, this result overrides the Lateral Flow Test and your child can return to school).

Year Group Bubbles:

 We will continue to operate in year group ‘bubbles’ until the end of this term and regularly remind students of the importance of good respiratory hygiene.   I am hopeful, things will return to ‘normal’ in September and we will no longer need to keep the students in year bubbles.

Thank You Again, a massive thank you for all of your support during this time.  We are all incredibly proud of the resilience and maturity our students have shown throughout the Covid pandemic and are looking forward to going from strength to strength as an Academy in the coming weeks and next academic year.

Kind regards,

Yours sincerely

Mrs G McLaughlin
