Dear Parents/Carers
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all parents and carers again for their support in ensuring the students have completed a smooth transition back into Academy life.
As you are aware, a number of schools across the Borough and in the UK have now had either full or partial closures due to students or staff testing positive for the Coronavirus. As a result of this, we would like to ensure we have a contingency plan in place, in case the need arises to send either a class, year group or the whole school home, due to a Coronavirus outbreak. Could you please complete the attached survey, so that in the event of a full or part Academy closure, we could arrange for the students to be off site as quickly and safely as possible.
What will the school do if a student or member of staff has a confirmed case of Covid‐19?
In the event of a student or staff member having a confirmed case of Covid‐19, the Academy will liaise with the local health team and decide on the appropriate action. The appropriate action could include any of the following:
 Member of staff/student sent home to self‐isolate.
 Cohort or bubble (which might be a class year group or other defined year group) sent home to
 In the case of a confirmed outbreak across the Academy, all students and staff sent home to
Can I please reiterate to parents and carers that we have a duty of care to all of our staff and students at the Academy and we would not provide the details of any staff member or student who tests positive for the Coronavirus. Parents and carers will be informed if there is a confirmed case of the Coronavirus that directly impacts on their child. For example, if a member of your child’s class had a confirmed case of the Coronavirus, all members of that class would be asked to self‐isolate alongside any other class groups that the student was in throughout the Academy or previous days dependent on the circumstances.
The Academy would inform parents and carers and students as quickly as possible if there was an outbreak, however not necessarily if there was an isolated case, unless it directly impacts on your child.
Please can I ask that parents and carers do not use social media as their main source of information.
I would continue to ask all parents and carers to please work with us across the Academy, this is a very challenging time for all within our community. I am extremely proud of our staff andstudents and how they have started this academic year.
