Netball teams raise funds for fabrics
The Gateway Academy’s U14 and U16 Netball teams recently decided to raise some much-needed funds for a team outfit. They raised £147 with a cake sale, an idea to raise money for new personalised tracksuit tops, as recognition for taking part for the very first time in the Regional Netball Finals held at Hassenbrook School. The Academy had two teams in the competition, a feat not matched by the other competing schools.
Team coaches, Miss Chapman & Miss Homer, said “The girls have been training week-in and week-out throughout the netball season which resulted in the success at the Thurrock netball rally earlier on in the year. This gained the girls an invitation to the regional finals where they played their hearts out and socks off all day. We are immensely proud of each and every one of them, they represented the Academy and themselves fantastically and we couldn’t have asked more of them. We were the only school there with 2 teams in the competition and we look forward to continuing the successful results once games start again at the end of February.“
