It's Kids Lit Quiz time again!...

Two teams from the Gateway Academy recently attended the Thames Gateway heat of this year’s Kids’ Lit Quiz, held at the Harris Academy. The annual literature quiz celebrates the ‘sport of reading’ and is open to students aged 10-13 years.

The quiz was brought to the UK in 2003 by Wayne Mills, a lecturer at Auckland University in New Zealand who was named in the 2011 Queen’s New Year’s Honours for services to education and children’s literature. It sees schools take part in the UK as well as New Zealand, South Africa, Canada, USA, Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Librarian, Mrs Gail Scott, said “The standard, as always, is very high and our students competed brilliantly against teams from both independent and grammar schools. It was such a pleasure to take our students to this event and they should be commended for their achievement on behalf of the Gateway Academy.”
