Christmas Joy all wrapped up at the Gateway Academy...

Students and staff from the Gateway Academy joined together for Operation Christmas Child, digging deep into their pockets by donating shoe boxes filled with lots of lovely items for children less fortunate than themselves, just in time for Christmas.

The Academy challenged each college to compete for the most amount of boxes filled, with the winning Pride College taking centre stage with an amazing 83 boxes, smashing last year’s total by over 50! The other colleges also contributed richly, with over 200 boxes all wrapped up and sent on their way.

Head of Humanities, Mrs Delia Webster, said “We would like to thank all staff and students that kindly donated towards this worthwhile campaign, this year’s collection of 200+ boxes is an absolute record for the Gateway Academy! The boxes will be delivered to children all over the World, courtesy of Samaritan’s Purse UK.”

The charity, Samaritan’s Purse UK, always make a yearly pilgrimage to hand out the special treats to children in countries that are victims of war, famine, poverty and natural disasters.
