WOW Day at the Academy...

Students at the Gateway Academy have worked extremely hard this year, excelling academically, in the arts and on the sports field. As a result, staff arranged a ‘WOW’ day for them to remember along the theme of the Wild, Wild, West; encompassing a variety of activities and fun to see them off on their summer holidays.

They were treated to an extra special day with college ‘wild west’ parades, a foam party, fairground rides and a colourful array of paint sprayed directly at them. Students also experienced traditional fete activities including a tombola, popcorn and sweet stall.  An ice cream van was also on hand to cool everyone down.

What began as a one-off rewarding event seven years ago has now become an annual occurrence and is another reason why the Gateway Academy is a remarkable place to be!

The Academy’s Head of School, Miss Grainne McLaughlin, said “I would like to thank all staff for supporting what has turned into the best WOW day ever! It was delightful to see how much fun the students had on a day when they were allowed to just let their hair down and have the best fun ever! Roll on next year!”
