Welcome from the Head

It is an absolute pleasure to enter my sixth year as Head of the Gateway Academy, to work with the young people of Chadwell‐St‐Mary and Tilbury every day is an exceptional privilege. At the Academy, amazing staff, students, Governors, parents/carers and the community work relentlessly together to ensure our students are well‐rounded individuals who excel academically, on the sports field and in the arts. Together, by continuing to have the highest possible expectations of all members of the Gateway Learning Community and with self‐belief, hard work and determination, our students will have a hunger to succeed. It is imperative that they will be fully prepared to meet the opportunities and challenges put before them in the 21st Century.

The success of our students is of paramount importance to us and it is quite remarkable how many of our students have continued on their educational journey, attending top Colleges and Universities, such as Cambridge University, Kings College London, Brunel University, Queen Mary’s College and The London School of Contemporary Dance. Others have completed apprenticeships and gone on to become youth workers, electricians, hairdressers …. the list is endless!!

Myself and all of the Gateway Academy staff are enjoying working with the students, staff, parents, carers, Governors and community this academic year as we continue to ʹ Improve Upon Our Best’, achieve excellence in everything we do and ‘offer everyone opportunities to develop as high achieving, resilient, healthy, aspirational, caring and fulfilled members of our society that is diverse, truly fair and equal.’
