Sri Lanka Fundraiser

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to offer students a chance to visit Sri Lanka in February 2019. The trip will be from Friday 2 February to Friday 16 February 2019, flying from London to Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The trip will include a week of volunteering on a community project, at a turtle conservation project and spending time at an elephant sanctuary. The second week of the trip will involve an adventure tour of the Island, which is included in the total price, as outlined below:

GALLE Visit to the old Colonial Fort of Sri Lanka
MIRISSA Beach Trip
YALA Safari Park Excursion – Yala National Park
ELLA Mountain top Village Treck
NUAWARA ELIYA Visit to Little England
KANDY Visit to the Tea Plantations
KANDY Traditional Sri Lankan experience / orphanage visit

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for our students and something that will benefit them in writing their Post-16 applications and also their GCSE studies.

Students will be allocated on a first-come-first serve basis although, places will be considered, dependent upon their attendance, behaviour and academic record. Students who do not meet the requirements for this trip will unfortunately not be allowed to participate.

Please be aware there are a maximum of 21 places available for this visit. The visit is open to current Year 9 students only. Please note that the price is a quotation and may vary depending on how many students attend.

The total cost of the trip will be £1,650 which includes all expenses as follows:

• Full accommodation.
• Full UK expedition leadership and information briefings.
• Private airport transfer from Colombo Airport.
• Three meals a day.
• 3 x volunteer placements and a renovation project.
• One week adventure tour of Sri Lanka, all excursion costs and entrance fees.
• All evening activities.
• 24/7 UK and Sri Lanka based support.

We would like a student contribution of £1,000 towards the cost of the trip, payable in monthly instalments, with the remainder being fundraised by the students themselves through school activities and fundraising events.

Please note that if a student does not play an active role in fundraising the full amount of £1,650 will need to be paid.
